April 8: This is the general municipal election, in which members of city councils, boards of alderman, boards of trustees school boards and some other local government entities are elected. In Columbia, we'll elect First Ward and Fifth Ward representatives to the City Council, and we'll choose two school board members. All will serve three-year terms. Bond issues and other ballot measures can also be included in the April election, though none have been announced yet. The last day to register to vote in this election is March 12.

The August primary might also feature statewide or local ballot issues, though none has been announced to date. The last day to register to vote in this election is July 9.
